Computer Recycling:
If you find yourself with systems that you no longer require and may be faulty, this ranges from computers, laptops and tablets. Please get in contact with us as we can collect your equipment for free and dispose of it safely or repurpose it by stripping machines down and using parts for further repairs.
When the system seems broken i.e. a faulty motherboard it does not mean the rest of the system/computer should be "junked" as it can come in useful.
Please get it touch if we can help, telephone 07487854275 or email info@limitedmooncomputers.com
Routers and Security Cameras:
It is common knowledge that if you want to get onto the internet with devices you need an active connection which is distributed via a router. From this hub all devices will be controlled and connected either wirelessly or a LAN connection.
Routers and cameras are however fairly easy things to be hacked and used by others. The built in security for most of the devices is suitable but the vast majority come with a default username and password to log in. It is recommended that once you have a router of security camera system setup, to log in to its landing page and change the name and password to something very complex.
If you need your setup looking over please contact us and we can look it over for you.

At Limited Moon Computers, we have been asked by alot of users the question of what are website cookies and what do they do. We have put together a small insight into what they are and how to remove them if required.
Cookies are usually made up of a small file which contains numbers and letters that only makes sense to the computer. Some of the information relayed from your computer back to the website are things like remembering preferences, numbers of visitors to a website and remembering baskets on shopping sites.
It is usual that if cookies are stored in the computer, the webpage will load faster as it knows the credentials you have preset for a particular page. If you don’t want this information saved however, there are 2 simple methods to do which is clearing browser history to include cookies as an option or use free software such as ccleaner to clear cookies from your system.

As part of the service that we do at Limited Moon Computers, we try to be as accomodating as we can in terms of repairs and sales of computers.
What this means is that if you have had a repair or product from us, you have 30 days inwhich to return the machine which either needs to have the same fault as it was booked in for or the refurbished sold machine is faulty. A reciept will also need to come back with the machine to prove it was done by us.
Once this is done a full refund or repair can be done, we cannot sell or swap for a like for like machine as we often refurbish machines which are one offs.
After 6 months, you will need to prove the fault to us and say that it was forever inherent in the machine even after a second inspection. This will cost a minimum of £30 to prove or disprove the fault.

Apple computers and recent scams:
With Apple computers there are a few things to note should you wish to use or purchase one, below are some of the key factors we have identified:
- Always get an antivirus! macs can still be infected.
- Parts for repairs, these can be more costly than standard pc parts. Get a rough idea on the spec of the mac and just view available parts online for price estimates.
- It is entirely different to Windows operating system, it is recommened to try a mac before you buy. Best to visit Apple stores.
- Can sync all devices if they are Apple, this can be handy for ease of use.
Recent Scams:
The most recent scams to be going around are: TV licensing, Paypal and Amazon. Please do not click on the links in the spam emails and if you are unsure of the email you receive, log into the account directly on the website e.g. amazon or paypal and in regard to tv license get the phone number directly and enquire. Do not follow spam email links.
Pre bought computers:

Scam season is upon us:
It's that time of year again that the scam emails and calls will be flying around, mostly you will get emails from e.g. royal mail, dpd, amazon saying either a parcel has not been delivered or there is something wrong with your account. DO NOT BE FOOLED, this is just a method to get you to put your bank details in to allow scammers to have free reign. If you recieve these emails just simply delete them and find the legitimate number for the supposed company and verify with them.
With the phone calls it will usually again be scammers identifying as microsoft or your internet service provider saying there is something wrong with your line and will want connection to your machine, again DO NOT ALLOW THIS. simply reply i have no pc and that usually does the trick.
If you have been scammed or need help identifing the risks, please email or call.

Collecting Machines and Customer Data:
When we book machines in for repair, we take information that relates to you, the client. This is so that a custom spec sheet can be made for your machine to keep and this also helps with us getting your machine back to you in a timely fashion.
Please see below the rules on collection/disposal of machines:
The Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 provisions apply any time after the goods are ready for collection, subject to any terms imposed at the time the goods were left with you for repair.
If you are in possession of a customer's goods and he/she is under an obligation to collect them (e.g. because you have repaired the goods for the customer), you are entitled to sell the goods if they remain uncollected and are not otherwise the subject of a dispute. Before doing so, you must satisfy two conditions:
1. You must first send the owner of the goods written notice of: their obligation to collect the goods;
details of the goods to be collected and the address at which they are held;
your name and address;
details of the goods to be collected and the address at which they are held;
your name and address;
details of any sum of money owing in respect of the goods at the time the notice is sent (e.g. repair charges, storage costs).
This notice may be delivered direct to the owner, left at his proper address or posted to it. The 'proper address' means:
in the case of a limited or public limited company, the registered office or principal office; in any other case, the last known address of the owner.
2. If the notice does not result in collection of the goods, you must send the owner, by recorded delivery post or registered letter:
the same information as in the notice above, plus notice of your intention to sell the goods if they remain uncollected, and the date of the intended sale.
The period between the issue of the second notice and the date of intended sale must be reasonably sufficient for the owner to reclaim the goods. If any money is owed to you, this period must be at least three months.
If the owner still does not collect the goods by the date stated in your second notice, you can sell them. You must give the proceeds of the sale to the owner of the goods, but you are entitled to keep any money owed to you, including the cost of the sale (e.g. advertising).

If the owner of the goods is not at the proper address, you can still go ahead with the sale after you have taken reasonable, unsuccessful, steps to trace him/her.
If machines are left with us after 3 months, a letter will be sent asking for collection. If we have not been informed of any news by the client we will send a second notice saying about the machine being disposed of or resold. If money is owed to us, there is a 3 month waiting period from the second notice.
Thanks

Internet Security and having it:
- Make sure it's up to date.
- Always useful to have in the event of an attack on your system or machine.
- Will protect against many threats and will keep the machine clear.
- Important note, no antivirus will keep you 100% safe as the level of viruses and malware are released at over one million per day.
- There are free antivirus solutions over paid security.
The Importance of data backup.
- Piece of mind for the user.
- If the data is personal and you do not want too loose it e.g. pictures/documents, back it up twice to the cloud and external hard drives.
- Cloud backup systems are good and free depending on the size of the space you require.
- Know the size of your data, this is key so that you dont overspend on backup devices and cloud storage.
